In the USA, as per many other countries, the private label market is still growing and consumers have fully integrated this kind of products in their consumption habits.  Moreover, food products price increase over the past years has greatly contributed to this shift as consumers seek quality products at a reasonable price.  Indeed, now with about 20% of unit sales, private label sales are growing faster than all the national brands. It is also a good way to enter a new market without investing a lot in marketing.

The Private Label Manufacturers Association Show is the most important annual event in North America for this type of products. This trade show features more than 1300 exhibitors from 47 countries. Of all North American trade shows, the PLMA attracts more buyers from Europe, South America and Asia, looking to procure products to be sold under their private brands. Note that the Private Label Manufacturers Association membership is mandatory to exhibit in their show. If you’re not member of the PLMA, you will have to pay the US $1500 membership fees directly to the PLMA.

Financial assistance for exhibitors

 

  • 50% reimbursement of one economy class airfare for a maximum eligible amount of $550 (1 per exhibiting company);

  • 50% reimbursement of one per diem of 425$ (1 per exhibiting company, for a maximum of 3 days) ;
  • 75% rebate on extra furnishings for your booth and samples shipping (when consolidating with Group Export), up to a maximum of $6,000 of admissible expenses;

Financial assistance for visitors

  • Reimbursement of one lump sum of $850 per company. To benefit from the lump sum, the company must provide a proof of travel and accommodation (if there is no accommodation, the lump sum cannot be granted);
    • You will be entitled to an extra $500 if your company is located in one of the following regions:  Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Côte-Nord, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Abitibi-Témiscamingue and Nord-du-Québec;
