Les Serres Royales was founded in 1995 by Gilles, Pascal, Stéphan and Cécile Lemieux in Saint-Jérôme, located in the Lower Laurentiens. Why Royale? Because we wanted to avoid the traditional route of namesake businesses (although Lemieux does have a nice ring to it). Beacuse the word evokes quality, top of the line and excellence. Because it sounds classy, yet accessible and pleasant. In short, it gives a little medieval touch that is just right for our tomatoes. Our first plants were planted in April 1996. At the very beginning, our entire production was focused on pink tomatoes. Different cultivars were then added, including red, yellow and orange vine tomatoes, cocktail tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and grape tomatoes.
